動物病院にて

 

いたって元気なのだが、ボクは今、動物病院にいる。点滴のためだ。

ダディ（ボクの専任看護士）がロケで不在のため、マミーには不可能ということで、点滴予定日の今日、無理矢理バスケットに押し込まれて、連れてこられたというワケである。

マミーは、GWなので病院はすいているかと思っていたようだが、待合室は犬でいっぱいだった。ボクはもう萎縮して、ただただ神妙にしていた。

処置室で写真に写ったボク、何て勇敢な姿なのか！

実は、マミーが先生に点滴後に許可を得て、撮ったからなのだ。

さあ、家に帰ろう！

What a Wonderful World

What a lovely day today!

I feel like singing that famous song, ‘What a Wonderful World’, on the tree in my garden.

I see trees of green, pink clematis too

I see them bloom for me and you

And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

I see English lavender, white marguerite too

I see them bloom for me and you

And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue and clouds of white

I see friends shaking hands saying how are you

And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

Yes, I’m really saying I love you.

なんちゃってフォー

近所のスーパーには、ライスヌードルがなかったため、マミーは春雨を買って帰ってきた。だが、春雨ではフォーはできない、とダディが言い、炭水化物じゃないから、このほうがダディにはいいんじゃないの、とマミーが反論。

仕方なく、ダディは春雨を茹ではじめ、冷蔵庫からナンプラを取り出し、庭にコリアンダーを採りにいった。

「なんちゃってフォーのできあがり！」

本当のフォーではないが、アレンジしたフォーなので、ダディ曰く、これを「なんちゃってフォー」と呼ぶらしい。

「店で食べるフォーよりおいしいなあ。なんちゃってね。」

フフフ、とマミーは笑顔で、階段に座っているボクを見上げた。

Keep an Eye on Me

 

Clematis ‘Pink Perfection’ is in full bloom now.

We’re always big clematis fans. In our previous garden in London, we had beautiful small flowered clematis covering a very large section of the fence.

In the garden, my mum always keeps an eye on me.

I don’t want to ruin these flowering vines. I won’t jump up onto the fence or jump over the fence. I promise, Mum!

‘Escape can be achieved by crawling under the gate,’ I murmured to myself.

Keema Curry & a Beautiful Photo

 

In the evening my dad came home with his friend, Mr Li, Chinese photographer.

He brought his own photographs and asked my dad to print them out. It took them a while.

My mum said: “I’m going to cook dinner – keema curry with apple salad. Why don’t you join us?”

While cooking, she was amazed by one of his photographs as my dad taped it on the wall of the kitchen.

“Oh my goodness! I like this one very much, Li-san. It looks like a painting – absolutely amazing!”

'Well, lighting is perfect for the photo, but a bit oily there,' I murmured to myself.

They all enjoyed dinner while seeing the photo on the kitchen wall. Oh, dear, dear!

桜まつり

八重桜の並木道で開催される「桜まつり」に、昼食後、ダディとマミーは徒歩で出かけて行った。お祭りは自転車は禁止らしい。

ボクは午前中、太陽の下でブラシングしてもらったし、十分に庭で過ごせたので、昼下がりは、心よく留守番ができた。と、言っても、昼寝をしていただけなのだが。

初夏の陽気に、歩道には、お花見のシートが広げられ、葛飾諏訪太鼓の披露もあり、桜まつりは大変賑わっていたようだ。

夕方、ダディとマミーはラベンダーを買いにガーデンセンターに出かけた。先週、薬師さまの植木市になかったため。

悲しいかな、ボクは外出禁止のため、花祭りとか桜祭りとか、日本の風物を一生見ることはできないけれど、庭の塀に広がったクレマティスのピンクのつぼみも大きく膨らんで、春爛漫と咲く色とりどりの花々を庭で見ることができるから、ボクは幸せだと思う。日本の春っていいなあ。

Have some herbal tea in the garden!

“Ah, that was very hard. Weeding a garden is always laborious and time-consuming,” my mum said.

After weeding, she enjoyed having some herbal tea in the garden in the early afternoon.

“It’s sweet and fragrant in taste, mmm …” she said with a sigh of relief.

It’s also perfect for calming my mind. I’m falling asleep, Mum … Zzzz …
