菜の花畑

 

「ただいま〜！」

マミーが帰ってきた。ボクはお昼ご飯を食べたあと、うとうととして、寝入ってしまった。そのすきに、マミーは久々に堀切水辺公園までサイクリングに行ってきたのだ。

春に菜の花、梅雨のころには花ショウブ、それからコスモス、と、季節折々の花が楽しめる水辺公園は区民の癒しの場のようだ。ボクはいつも写真を見ては、イメージを膨らませている。ああ、もしも許されるのなら、心ゆくまでこの菜の花畑で遊んでみたい。

マミーが庭に出してくれた。近所のあちらこちらから聞こえてくる建築工事の騒音に耐え切れず、ボクはそそくさと家の中に戻ってしまった。ウチの庭で遊ぶことさえもままならぬ、今日このごろである。

What's going on here!?

My mum is unloading groceries from the bag. I’m lucky, aren’t I?

I love playing with a plastic grocery bag, putting my head in a plastic bag like I’m looking for something.

What’s going on here!? What on earth am I doing!?

Jesus, I got my head through the handle of the bag. I don’t want to get my neck tied up in the handle.

“Hey, Dad, help me! Stop recording!”

“I could slip it off over your head easily, but . . . your mum asked me to record a video of her beloved feline for her blog.”

He saw her and they exchanged glances.

Ahh-ahh-ahh, easy, easy! Done it! Get out of here!

Dad making a cool bike

My mum let me go into the garden after coming back from her cycling this afternoon.

Now I’m in the garden, watching my dad making a bike for Momo-chan, adjusting her saddle height and handles.

When Momo-chan came here last time, she chose the frame and parts.

Pinkish violet frame! What a lovely colour! It suits her, I think.

“This saddle is too high to ride for me. I can’t manage!” said my mum.

“She has long legs. It’s her comfortable position,” my dad replied with a grin.

Momo-chan, are you ready to ride this cool bike?

Oh, dear! The window is closed!

What a lovely day today!

It was raining the whole day yesterday.

This morning my mum went to my vet to get my drop set – two bags of drops, tubes, needles and absorbent cotton.

Now I’m in the garden with her, enjoying sunbathing.

“Nice day, isn’t it, Mum?” 
"Oh, it's lovely, yes. Let's hope it'll last."

Ah, I’m getting hungry. It’s time to eat, I think.

Oh, dear! The window is closed!

“Mum, let me get in the house! Let’s have lunch!”

“Why don’t you enjoy the sun!? Stay here a little longer! It’s only eleven o’clock! Didn’t you have breakfast properly?”

“Um, er . . . I’m not interested in dry food, in other words, my breakfast. I want to have lunch, my favourite dish, Mum. I’m starving, really!”

“Hmm, alright! I’m glad to hear you have a good appetite, sweetheart.”

After my beautiful lunch, I’m going to sit in the sun again. Ho ho ho!

クーちゃんメーちゃん姉妹

今日はお彼岸とやらで、お墓参りのため、親戚のクーちゃんとメーちゃんの姉妹が親に連れられてやってきた。

玄関ドアを開けるなり、「ピノー、ピノー、ピノー、ピノー」と、甲高いおチビさんたちの声が家中にこだまする。

ボクが階下に下りて行かなかったので、ふたりは二階にやってきて、

ボクを探し始めた。ボクはベッドの中で息を殺し、じっと我慢していたのだが、ドウヴェをはがされて、

「あ〜あ、ハロー、プリンセスたち、ニャン！」

まるでプリンセスのような出立ちのふたりがにっこり微笑んでいる。

ボクと遊びたくて、ボクをかまいたくて、撫でたくてたまらないのだ。

「抱いてみる？」とマミーが聞くと、

「いやだ、こわいよ！」

なんて言った！？ こんなに従順なボクなのに。

「ピノって、黒猫じゃなかったっけ？」

なななんて言った、お嬢さん！？　

皆で、これからお墓参りに出かけるようだ。

戻ってくるまでに、別の隠れ家を探さねば…。

ああ、今日は大変な一日になりそうだ。

ももちゃん

 

この前泊まりに来た、猫好きのももちゃんがまたやってきた。そんなにボクに会いたいのか？ そんなわけないだろう。ところが、

「ハロー、あれっ、ピノがいない。ピノはどこ？」と、ボクを探している。やはり、そうなのか？？ ボクはゆっくりと、階段を下りていった。

夕食までの時間、ももちゃんはボクと少し遊んだが、後はストーブの前で、ずっとスマホとにらめっこ。なあんだ、やっぱりね。

ダディが庭から、コリアンダと大根の葉を摘んで来た。

今晩の料理は、コリアンダとセロリのサラダ、大根の葉と卵の炒め物、ダディの特製麻婆豆腐のようだ。ももちゃん手土産のボクの名のワイン、ピノワインも栓が抜かれた。

“Okay everybody, grub’s up!” マミーが大きな声で言った。

It's been one year since then.

I fell down a year ago. I’ve been ill for one year. 

I’m still under medical treatment, but I’m getting better and better these days. I think I’ll soon be feeling as right as rain again, with my medication though.

Maybe I cannot live to love my dad and mum as long as I want to, but I just want to live as long as I can.

“You’ve come to our lives to teach us about love, my sweetheart,” my mum said to me.

“Don’t worry Mum, I’m in high spirits, always!”
